Prerequisites and Roadmap for TOGAF Certification
TOGAF 9 certification is a market-driven education and certification program to support TOGAF 9.
There are two levels to this certification program.
Level one, also known as TOGAF 9 - Foundation. This level validates that the candidate has acquired understanding of the basic concepts and terminologies of TOGAF 9 and knows the founding principles of TOGAF and Enterprise Architecture
Level two, also known as TOGAF 9 - Certified. This level validates that apart from understanding and knowledge, candidate is capable to scrutinize and use the knowledge of TOGAF.
Purpose of the Certification:
It ensures that an individual has adequate knowledge of TOGAF, and provides a visible trust mark.
How to achieve the certification?
Once you have decided which level you want to study for, and have studied sufficiently whether through a training course (accredited or non-accredited), or self-study, you may take the applicable examination.
The examinations available:
For each level an examination has to be passed. One can take the exams separately or combined.
TOGAF 9 - Part one: To qualify this exam you need 55% marks, which mean a total of 22 or greater marks out of a total of 40. There are 40 questions in normal multiple - choice pattern. Each accurate answer notches you a point.
TOGAF 9 - Part two: To qualify this exam you need 60% marks, which mean a total of 24 or greater marks out of a total of 40. This exam contains eight complicate scenario based queries and the scoring is gradient. This is an open book exam and covers entire level 2 learning consequences. The best answer awards 5 marks, second - best answer awards 3 points and third best awards one point, while the wrong answer scores you a zero.
TOGAF 9, Combined - Part 1 and 2: It is a combined TOGAF - 9 Part 1, and Part 2 exam for individuals who aspire to attain Level 2 certification straight through a single test. It comprises of two parts, with passing marks according to the TOGAF 9 - Part 1, and 2 examinations stated before. Every part needs to be passed if you want to score the passing marks. In case you can't pass a part then certification is not rewarded, nevertheless you are just required reappear the exam/s according to the unsuccessful part/s.
Prerequisites for the Exams:
TOGAF 9 - Part 1 exam: There is no absolute prerequisite for the TOGAF 9 - Part 1. Thus, any candidate who thinks he can crack the exam, and wants to establish the career in the same can take the exam.
TOGAF 9 - Part 2 exam: An individual is required to have TOGAF 9 Foundation certification or if the individual is appearing as a combined exam he should have passing marks in the foundation level exam on the same day, and at the same ATTC centre.
Those candidates who are not appearing in the Part 1 exam in the same sitting, a candidate should have a TOGAF 9 - Foundation records in the Directory of the Certified People listed here or have completed minimum of the first section of the combined examination.
Examinees are required to produce their Personal Conformation Code to the ATTC worker in case they've fixed their directory entry as confidential.
TOGAF 9 Combined Part one and two exams: There is again no absolute prerequisite for the TOGAF 9 - Combined Part one and two Exam. Thus, any candidate who thinks he can crack the exam, and wants to establish the career in the same can take the exam.
What is the cost of the exam
The exam fees cover the cost of Certification. The pricing of the Certification exams may vary according to difference currency values in a specific country and the region. However, they are nearly around $400 for each exam. Additional taxed may be applied for some regions.
How to study for TOGAF exams?
If you've decided to give the exam, you must also prepare for the same. There are several approaches to cracking the TOGAF 9 certification examinations. One way is to join the training courses that will teach you everything you need to know in order to pass the exams. You can take the accredited courses under the guidelines from the open group, or even go for non-accredited ones. Apart from that you can always sit back and self-study. What to do if I fail?
In case, you couldn't qualify for any of the exam you would have to wait for one month before you can reappear in the same examination. If you fail in one of the parts of the combined examination, then also the waiting period remains same, and after one month you can reappear in one of both the parts that you had failed in.
